Do I need insurance for long-term car rental ? 
Yes. And it is the responsibility of the car rental company to ensure that this service is availed. Before signing the car agreement, check and understand your responsibility regarding the insurance. 

Can I leave the country with a long term car rental? 
Whilst some car rental companies may allow you to leave the country with their car, others will not. And for those that might allow you to, there are likely to be strict terms and conditions in the contract. Make sure to inform the service provider about your other destinations at the time of booking the car or before crossing borders in case your travel plans just changed. 

Can I rent a car for more than a year in Uganda? 
Yes. However, this comes with renewal of your long-term car rental contract periodically; this might be every after 6 months or a year. 

Can I cancel my contract before the time in the agreement? 
Car rental companies formulate flexible terms and conditions for long term car rental because there might be inevitable circumstances that could lead to cancellation of one’s contract. However, this comes with a cost. Before you book your car, make sure you know the penalties or fees for canceling your car rental contract.

Can I get long term car rental services for a self drive trip? 
A few car rental companies in Uganda might allow you to rent a car for self drive on long term basis. This is not the case for most companies due to factors such as car theft and the recklessness of customers. It is much easier and cheaper to hire a car with a driver for a long safari that even takes you across Uganda’s borders. 

Is it cheaper to rent a car long term or lease? 
Oftentimes, it is cheaper to opt for long term car rental than leasing. This is because of the fees that come with leasing: registration and insurance fees as well as the maintenance costs. Some companies might require a down payment before handing over the vehicle.
