
A 4-day Bwindi and Lake Mutanda safari is a short Uganda tour that allows adventure travelers to face the endangered mountain gorillas and explore the unspoiled hidden gem in the southwestern corner of the country. It combines two beautiful destinations; Bwindi impenetrable national park for gorilla trekking and Lake Mutanda for a thrilling canoe ride.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Bwindi
If you love road trips, then you should get excited for this trip with day one being planned for a long drive from Kampala to Bwindi. After your breakfast, you will meet your safari driver for a short briefing and then set off for Bwindi. Your first stopover will be at Kayabwe for the equator experience; pose for some photos at the monument and proceed with the journey. You will have an en-route lunch and arrive at your lodge in the evening.
Dinner and overnight stay at the booked lodge in Bwindi.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking & Batwa cultural experience
This day starts early morning with breakfast and then head to the park offices with your packed lunch. You will be briefed about gorilla trekking, the dos and don’ts and thereafter get into the forest to search for the mountain gorillas. The activity can take from 1.5 hours to 6 or more hours depending on the location of the gorillas. When they are spotted, you are allowed to stay with them for an hour, learn about their behaviors, and take photos which are limited to a non-flash camera. You will then return to the park offices to pick up your trekking certificates, return to the lodge and relax. Later on in the evening, head out for a cultural experience in the Batwa community. The Batwa the original inhabitants of the gorilla forests and therefore will not only show off traditional dances but also tell a story of how they lived with the apes.
Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge
Day 3: Transfer to Lake Mutanda and exploration
After a leisurely breakfast at the lodge, you will check out and drive to Kisoro. On arrival, you will sail in a dugout canoe to your lodge on the island. During the transfer on water, you will enjoy the beautiful views of the scenic islands and the picturesque Virunga volcanoes. Check in to your lodge at the island, have lunch and relax. Later on in the evening, you will head out for a sunset canoe ride, explore the islands and return to the lodge for dinner and the overnight stay.
Day 4: Transfer to Kampala
This is your last day of the safari and you will check out of the lodge after having breakfast, sail to the mainland and set off for Kampala. You will arrive in the evening and your safari guide will drop you at the airport or hotel in Kampala or Entebbe.
