Detailed Uganda Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer from Entebbe or Kampala to Queen Elizabeth National Park
On this first day of your 5-day Uganda safari, you will be picked up by your safari driver from Supreme Car rental company. He/she will give a briefing of the day’s program and thereafter set off driving westwards from Entebbe or Kampala. The first stopover will be in Kayabwe for the equator experience, then proceed to Mbarara where you will have lunch before continuing to Kasese. On arrival, you will check in to your lodge and relax.
Day 2: Game drive and boat cruise

You will wake up to an early morning breakfast at your lodge and set off for the game drive in Kasenyi plains to look out for early grazers and predators. Some of the animals you should expect to see there as well as along the way include Uganda kobs, buffaloes, waterbucks, elephants and warthogs. Lions can be sighted relaxing after their morning hunt, and leopards too are occasionally seen. As you come to the end of the game drive, you will visit Bunyampaka for scenic viewing of the crater lake and surrounding plains. You could also buy a craft for a souvenir or taste the Ugandan Rolex at the site.
Return to the lodge, later on have lunch and go for the boat cruise on Kazinga channel. This is a hot spot for bird lovers with several species of birds seen along the shores; pied kingfishers, little egret, great white egret, hadada ibis, water thick-knee, Egyptian geese, long-tailed cormorants and African fish eagles among others. Other wildlife you should expect to see while on the boat cruise include hippos, elephants, buffaloes, warthogs and crocodiles.
After the 2 hours boat cruise, you will drive back to your lodge and rest.
Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi forest
After breakfast at the lodge, you will meet your safari driver and check out. Start the journey to Bwindi via Ishasha where you have a chance to spot the tree-climbing lions. You will have an en-route lunch and arrive at your lodge in the evening.
Day 4: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi forest.

Here comes the long-awaited day of looking out for your cousins- the mountain gorillas. It starts with an early morning breakfast at the lodge before you head to the park offices for briefing. By 8:30 am, you should be done with briefing and enter the forest with rangers who will help you look for your allocated gorilla family. Once it is spotted, you will have an hour to watch how they behave, learn about them and take photos. This is an experience worth the trek.
While walking through the forest, you may come across other wildlife mostly birds.
You can entertain your evening with a visit to the Batwa community for a cultural experience or head to Lake Bunyonyi depending on your interest.
Day 5: Drive to Entebbe or Kampala
If you travel to Lake Bunyonyi, you will go for a canoe ride on the calm waters of this beautiful lake, and enjoy the views of the Virunga volcanoes and the terraced hills. On return, set off for Kampala. And if you spent the night in Bwindi, you will wake up, have breakfast, check out and drive to Kampala with an en-route lunch.
